Meet the Polar Bound. She wintered over in Petersburg while owner David Cowper returned to Scotland. This boat is incredible–fabricated with three layers of skin, frames, stringers fully welded aluminum and tested in both Antarctica and the Arctic–six transits through the NW Passage. To read more about David, check out his wiki history here.
Of course, we meet up with David and his companion Jane and the next thing you know there is a grand dinner at Totland. This is what happens when people come over to Totland–our beach fills up with boats and our porch fills up with boots……
What a feast–both gastronomic and intellectual. Jane plays wonderful piano and we share the Chopin Gm Ballade. Besides the table of wild catch & garden delights, we are rich with friends and visitors including a French couch-surfer, two Arctic/Antarctic explorers, three commercial fishermen, and a wildlife biologist.
Polar Bound leaves Petersburg Alaska for the NW Passage.
